Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 19, 2025

HTML Live is a free, client-side web application created by Aashir Shaikh to help users learn and experiment with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use HTML Live. Since this app operates entirely in your browser, we prioritize keeping your data minimal and local.

1. Information We Collect

HTML Live does not collect or store personal information about you on any external servers. The only data we interact with is:

  • Code Content: The HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code you write is saved in your browser’s localStorage to persist across sessions. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us or any third party.
  • Usage: We do not track your interactions with the app (e.g., clicks, edits) or collect analytics about how you use it.

2. How We Use Your Information

The code you enter into HTML Live is used solely to:

  • Display live previews in the output window.
  • Save your work locally in your browser for convenience.
  • Enable export functionality (e.g., downloading your code as an HTML file).

We do not access, process, or share this data beyond what’s necessary for the app to function in your browser.

3. Third-Party Services

HTML Live includes links to external services, such as:

  • Social Media: Links to Aashir Shaikh’s Instagram for contact purposes.
  • Donations: Google Pay for optional donations, which may prompt a popup with a QR code or UPI details.
  • AI Credits: Links to OpenAI (ChatGPT-4) and X (Grok) for acknowledgment.

Interacting with these links takes you outside HTML Live, and your privacy is then governed by those services’ respective policies. We do not receive data from these interactions.

4. Data Storage and Security

All data (your code) is stored in your browser’s localStorage. This means:

  • It’s tied to the device and browser you’re using.
  • It can be cleared by you at any time via browser settings or the app’s "Clear All" feature.
  • We have no access to it, and it’s not backed up or synced to any server.

Since HTML Live is client-side, its security depends on your device and browser. We recommend keeping your browser updated to protect your local data.

5. Cookies

HTML Live does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.

6. Children’s Privacy

HTML Live is designed for educational use, including by students in grades 8–12. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, beyond the code stored in localStorage. If you’re a parent or guardian with concerns, please contact us.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as HTML Live evolves. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the app after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
